“…encouraging the foundations towards
a positive identity that define both an individual and the people."
As part of the EYE2014 event, the synesthetic action of “Anamnesis” took place within the Louise Weiss building at Strasbourg’s European Parliament. This collective multimedia artwork embodies the vision of a unified Europe, weaving together light, color, and sound. Merging abstract animation with a customized musical score, it recounts the European integration process from historical, social, and political angles. The work emphasizes a positive identity that shapes the individual and the collective, rooted in a sense of shared belonging.
The storyline behind “Anamnesis” taps into collective memory, recalling the significant events that have shaped modern and contemporary Europe. It paints a vivid scene endowed with places, symbols, and atmospheres, embodying an idealistic and romantic dream. Tradition, technology, hand-crafted elements, and numérique art come together in a paradoxical re-thinking of contemporary artistic expression.

THE TIMELINE
The timeline follows an ascending narrative arc that captivates the audience through an emotionally charged storyboard. Starting with a reflective and contemplative mood, it gradually escalates by delving into the most meaningful moments and achievements of European integration history. Unity, diversity, solidarity, and other emblematic European values lie at the heart of the work.
THE SOUNDTRACK
The evolving soundscape harmonises with the story’s segments, adapting to mood changes and thematic shifts. Crafted by the team, the captivating musical score combines ambient sounds, historical records, and original compositions. These elements reverberate through the sequence of events, enriching the audience’s immersive experience.
THE SPACE
The architectural design of the Louise Weiss building in Strasbourg, defined by its vast hemicycle, embodies the principles of international cooperation and democratic ideals held by the institution. As a 360° encircling screen, the hemicycle was an optimal narrative canvas. In order to overcome sight restrictions caused by viewers’ static perspective, the content was tailored around its layout, ensuring a complete and captivating experience. The light reflected off mirrored surfaces heightened the projection’s intensity, giving birth to an “immersive session” that invited attendees to contemplate unity and motion as guiding forces for the future.
