Beyond conventions, aside any binary interpretation, what lays in between? Is speculation already the solution? Are we ready?
By looking beyond the limits of the imaginable and through the many facets of matter, “In Between” paves the way to new creative horizons. This projection, combining elements of chromatic language, harmonics and sonic temperament, joined the luminous trail of the Aveiro’s “Prisma / Art Light Tech” festival in 2021.
Launched by a computational algorithm, vivid patterns re-shape the anatomy of the District Council, crafting an ever-shifting painting on its façade. Sound travels through visual representation, establishing a deep connection with the audience and delivering an unforgettable sensory experience.
“In Between” challenges formal notions of creative production, shaking off the old paradigms restricting imaginative freedom. By adopting a soft-wired approach to life, the work encourages viewers to question, ponder, and navigate blindfolded beyond the confines of convention. Speculation, seen as a dynamic attitude towards intellectual and artistic growth, serves as the modus operandi, prompting participants to traverse nebulous interspaces teeming with fresh ideas and perspectives.
Whether catering to the abstract mind, venturing off the beaten path, disrupting the process, consulting the stars, or forging peculiar connections, all conjectures culminate in unforeseen outcomes diverging from linear routes. A play of light guided by rhythm kindles the flame of lateral thinking, posing future questions rather than providing a definitive answer, leaving us thrilled about what lies ahead.
THE URBAN SPACE
The facade of the District Council is more than just an architectural element: the building stands as an important historical and cultural site, community landmark, and neuralgic center for the Prisma Festival itinerary. Its intricate design mirrors the values of the city of Aveiro, showcasing its dedication to inclusivity, cultural exchange and celebration of human creativity.
