A Pioneering Narrative of Hybrid Craftsmanship and Digital Expression
Anticipate extraordinary outcomes as the digital and analogue realms converge in the domain of projection mapping. The “Biela Noc Light Festival” in Košice provided an excellent opportunity in 2013 to unveil “Landmarks of Memory,” a unique installation that blended cutting-edge digital media techniques with traditional animation.
Projected onto the grand façade of the Národné divadlo Košice, this piece interacts with the theatre’s original design, manipulating its forms, density, and texture in an almost irreverent manner. The methods and artistry commonly linked to tra-digital stop-motion animation take on new roles in modern video mapping techniques, effectively utilising manual skills to serve computational art.

“Landmarks of Memory” is a narrative of physicality in code manifested through large-scale visuals. The notable aspect of the storyboard is its hybrid timing, meticulously crafted through frame-by-frame animation. By elevating the role of traditional techniques within the digital domain, the goal is to extend the limits of innovation in live cinematic storytelling.
Amidst idealization and romanticism, the audience embarks on a quest to reimagine new contemporary art forms, discovering harmonious intersections between traditional craftsmanship and digital artistry.
