From Canvas to Reality: An Immersive Project Revealing the Lost City of Bagheria.
“Lo Splendore di Bagaria,” a project led by Caterina Guttuso, aims to rekindle a sense of belonging rooted in heritage by fostering appreciation, respect, and love for what endures through time. This site-specific installation crafts an immersive representation of Bagheria’s historical sites. Architectural elements and splendid sceneries that have mostly faded today are revived through a fusion of painting and digital art.
Caterina Guttuso’s visionary project is a testament to the immense power that art and history wield in reigniting a deep sense of belonging among the people. The project seeks to awaken dormant emotions by prompting the public to do more than just observe history; it encourages them to delve into its depths. This transformative journey begins with developing site-specific, immersive installations acting as portals to travel back in time. By witnessing the city’s historical places as they once existed, the experience reaches beyond the present moment and the locale.
Enthused by the fusion of painting and digital art, visitors embark on a multidimensional voyage through the past. The essence of the past – its textures, colours, and subtleties – is captured in the brushstrokes, while digital art breathes new life into these historical depictions. A palpable, immersive dimension reveals itself to the viewer, resulting in a harmonious blend of old and new, traditional craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology.
