PRISMA Art Light Tech
SOV - Open Call '25

PRISMA / Art Light Tech has just launched the open call for the new edition of the School of Videomapping (SOV), inviting all creators from the RegiĂŁo de Aveiro to apply for this training program. Registrations are open until September 27th.

Since its creation in 2018, the School of Videomapping has grown into a reference program in the field of light-based arts. What began as a local training initiative has progressively expanded beyond Aveiro, with modules and presentations also integrated into international festivals.

Each new edition confirms its role as an incubator of talent, blending education, experimentation, and public engagement.

Over the past editions, several alumni of the School have embraced light as their primary medium of artistic expression. They have gone on to develop original case studies, entrepreneurial projects, and creative practices that gained visibility beyond Portugal. Many achieved international recognition through participation in light festivals, artist residencies, and professional collaborations, consolidating the school’s reputation as a catalyst for both individual growth and collective innovation in creative technologies.

the program

The Videomapping School is a training initiative for creators from diverse backgrounds under PRISMA / Art Light Tech, a festival organized by the Aveirense Theater / Aveiro City Hall.  Its mission is to train local talents, exploring light as a tool that both embodies and expands visual storytelling. The initiative also fosters innovation in distance learning, presenting itself as a forward-looking opportunity that bridges theory, practice, and collaboration.

The course will culminate with a public presentation: participants will showcase their final works on the façade of a building in Aveiro during the PRISMA / Art Light Tech festival, taking place on October 10–11 under the theme “The Shape of Things”. This moment will invite audiences to rediscover Aveiro through a new lens of light and imagination. Selected participants will also have the chance to receive software licenses offered by the program’s sponsors.

The program is directed by Professor Luca Pulvirenti, the founder and creative director of @mammasONica Studio, professor of digital animation at the Palermo Academy of Fine Arts and lectures in expanded cinema within international programs.
