Moving silhouettes, cartoonish aesthetics, and vibrant layers paint the facade of Théâtre de Chartres during the “Chartres en Lumière” night, enriching the city’s vivid scenography. “Chapeau Pazzo” is an animated carousel that celebrates the evolution of projections, from the enchantment of early shadowplays, magic lanterns, and zoetropes to the latest projection mapping technologies.
A circular movement encapsulates the spirit of imagination, innovation, and the timeless charm of visual storytelling as spinning silhouettes weave tales in fluid motion. With frame-by-frame animation, the audience experiences a non-linear, entertaining narrative characterized by infectious rhythms and playful cuts. “Chapeau Pazzo” transforms the theatre’s surroundings into a theatrical stage, pushing the structure’s function beyond its visible boundaries.
