Water as a Living Canvas: Where Nature Meets Architecture
Water—an iconic symbol of Aveiro’s identity—lies at the heart of PULSAR. From the canals and lagoon to the open sea, water shapes the city’s cultural and natural landscape. Inspired by its rhythmic, ceaseless motion, this installation transforms the historic ceramics factory at Cais da Fonte Nova into a captivating, immersive experience. The fluidity of the river, the structure of the canals, and the grandeur of the ocean harmonize, shaping a “liquid orchestra” that brings kinetic architecture to life.
The spatial transformation in PULSAR reflects water’s journey from rivers to the open ocean, unfolding in choreographed chapters that highlight contrasts: stillness and motion, chaos and harmony, fragmentation and unity. Through videomapping and light design, PULSAR draws visual parallels between maritime exploration and cosmic travel, connecting the familiar waters of Aveiro to the vastness of the universe. In its visual language, blending digital artistry with the natural rhythms of Aveiro, the piece underscores the deep connection between the environmental ubiquity and human presence.
